They have dark brown expressive eyes, drop ears, and a short, dense black-and-tan coat, with a harlequin (blue mottled) variation also recognized. Their double dewclaws on the hind legs set them apart from other breeds. Their strong, smooth gait reflects endurance, agility, and power, making them ideal working dogs.
