Breed Standards

The Australian Shepherd is a medium-sized breed with a well-balanced and muscular frame built for speed and agility. Males typically stand 20–23 inches at the shoulder, while females range from 18–21 inches, with weight proportions aligned to their size. The double coat is medium-length and weather-resistant, often featuring blue merle, red merle, black, or red coloration with or without white markings or tan points. Their eyes are expressive, varying in color from blue, amber, brown, or a combination, giving them a striking appearance. Their ears are moderately sized, set high on the head, and slightly folded forward. Their tail may be naturally bobbed or long, carried with a slight curve when alert. Their movement is smooth, energetic, and efficient, reflecting their herding background.
